Guidelines outline permissible uses, such as editing, brainstorming, and research, while restricting AI from drafting articles or handling confidential information. The Times also plans to explore AI for voice articles and translations. Specific AI programs, including GitHub Copilot and OpenAI's API, have been approved. This move follows the Times' ongoing lawsuit against OpenAI and Microsoft over copyright concerns.
