As Rio de Janeiro’s Carnival celebrations kicked off, dozens of dogs dressed as superheroes, clowns and cartoon characters paraded alongside their owners in one of the city’s most beloved canine street parties
The Rio Carnival featured a street party in Barra da Tijuca where about 100 dogs, dressed as superheroes, clowns, and cartoon characters, joined around 300 people. Organizers provided hydration stations and adjusted the parade route to protect the dogs from the heat. This event, known as Blocao, has been held for over 20 years and continued despite COVID-19 restrictions, showcasing its enduring popularity.
