The fifth and final statue will be unveiled later this year
Prior to 2021, Wales had no statues of real Welsh women. Monumental Welsh Women, a group of campaigners, pledged to erect five statues of Welsh women in five years. Four statues have already been unveiled, including those of Betty Campbell, Elaine Morgan, and Cranogwen. A fifth statue of Elizabeth Andrews is planned, with fundraising underway. The project aims to commemorate the achievements of Welsh women and inspire Welsh girls. Each statue embodies different aspects of each woman’s life, achievements, and struggles for equality.
