Labour MP Rachel Taylor is calling for a crackdown on freight crime, proposing a new crime code to differentiate it from petty theft and allow police to better track and tackle organized gangs stealing high-value goods from lorries. Her Freight Crime Bill, aimed at addressing the £68.3 million worth of goods stolen in 2023, will be debated on June 20.
