Thirteen Syrian security officers were killed in clashes with Assad loyalists in Latakia province and the coastal town of Jableh. The attacks are attributed to remnants of the Assad regime following his ouster on December 8th by rebels led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS). The new government, led by Ahmed al-Sharaa, is conducting operations against Assad-affiliated officers, offering clemency to lower-level personnel. Security forces were attacked by groups affiliated with Suhail al-Hassan, and Maj Gen Ibrahim Huwaija was arrested.
