Antonio Franchitti, a renowned Latin American and Ballroom dancing coach, was involved in a violent incident with his dance partner Cheryl Wood during a New Year's champagne celebration at a four-star hotel in London. The altercation began after Franchitti became enraged when Wood refused to have sex with him. He proceeded to strangle and suffocate her, causing her to suffer facial injuries. Wood managed to escape by convincing Franchitti she had been mugged, but he locked her in the room and threatened suicide if she left. She eventually fled, and Franchitti later pleaded guilty to the charges.
