Tour de France winner and Olympic champion Geraint Thomas to retire from cycling

Geraint Thomas, the 2018 Tour de France winner and double Olympic champion, has announced his retirement from professional cycling at the end of the season. The 38-year-old Welsh cyclist will conclude his 19-year career with the Tour of Britain in September. Thomas, who won Olympic team pursuit gold at the 2008 Beijing and 2012 London Olympics, also played a pivotal role in supporting Chris Froome during his four Tour de France victories between 2013 and 2017. British Cycling has praised Thomas for his stellar career, highlighting his historic achievements and the inspiration he has provided to the sport.
