Becky Barnicoat found motherhood messy and primal, far from the idealistic portrayals in baby books. She began creating cartoons to capture the reality of her experiences, including physical exhaustion, emotional extremes, and the challenges of modern parenting without adequate support. Her cartoons highlighted the contrast between the idealized image of parenting and the actual experience, resonating with other parents. She emphasizes that struggling as a parent isn't a personal failure but a systemic issue, advocating for recognition of the broader societal challenges faced by parents.
