Two popular child car seats didn’t hold up in a Consumer Reports crash test

Both car seats have ‘significant structural integrity issues,’ according to Consumer Reports

Consumer Reports found that two popular child car seats, the Diono LiteClik30 XT and the Peg Perego Primo Viaggio 4-35, failed their crash tests despite meeting federal safety standards. The tests, conducted at 35 mph, revealed significant structural issues: the Diono seat detached from its base, and the Peg Perego seat shell cracked. Diono is investigating, while Peg Perego claims their own tests showed no issues. Both companies advise continuing use until a safer alternative is available.
