Die Diskussion um mögliche Friedenstruppen in der Ukraine hat sich in den vergangenen Tagen zugespitzt. Verteidigungsminister Boris Pistorius will dennoch vorerst nicht über eine deutsche Beteiligung diskutieren.
Boris Pistorius, Germany's Defense Minister, has cautioned against hasty discussions on the deployment of European peacekeeping troops in Ukraine. He warned that the timing for such a debate is not yet ripe and emphasized the need for a well-considered approach. Pistorius criticized other European leaders, such as UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, for reacting too quickly to recent statements by U.S. President Donald Trump regarding Ukraine. He stressed that a peace guarantee for Ukraine cannot be ensured without the deterrent capabilities of the United States against Russia. Both Pistorius and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz have described the debate on European peacekeeping troops as premature.
