UN probe says Israel attacks on Gaza reproductive centres were 'genocidal acts'

The report said maternity hospitals and wards had been systematically destroyed in Gaza.

A UN investigation concluded that Israel committed "genocidal acts" in Gaza by systematically destroying sexual and reproductive healthcare facilities, including maternity wards and the main fertility center (Al-Basma IVF Centre). The commission found that Israel intentionally attacked and destroyed the fertility center, destroying around 4,000 embryos and reproductive material. The UN report further stated that Israel imposed a siege and blocked aid, including medication needed for safe pregnancies, deliveries, and neonatal care. The UN concluded that the actions meet the UN's definition of genocide, specifically "deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction" and "imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group". Israel rejected the allegations.
