Unifor, the largest private-sector union in Canada, has expressed grave concern over Stellantis' unexpected announcement to halt work at the Brampton Assembly Plant. Stellantis stated that the pause is temporary as they reassess their product strategy, while assuring that their investment plans remain unchanged. Unifor worries that the timing of the pause may cast doubt on these plans. The plant, which had approximately 3,000 employees before closing, faces uncertainty regarding when production may resume.
