U.S. booze isn’t returning to the LCBO yet. Is prohibition helping in tariff war?

On March 4, Ontario Premier Doug Ford ordered the LCBO to remove U.S.-made alcohol from its stores and wholesale catalogue as part of a tariff response measure.



U.S.-made alcohol remains unavailable at the LCBO despite a temporary pause on Ontario's energy surcharge. Premier Doug Ford removed American alcohol in response to tariffs and requires complete tariff resolution for its return. The LCBO sold nearly $1 billion of U.S. alcohol last year, including 22 million litres of liquor worth $461 million.
