U.S. revokes temporary status for thousands from 4 countries

The Department of Homeland Security said Friday that it will revoke legal protections for hundreds of thousands of Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans and Venezuelans.

The Department of Homeland Security will revoke legal protections for about 532,000 people from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela who entered the U.S. after October 2022, potentially leading to their deportation starting April 24. This follows a Trump-era decision to end the "broad abuse" of humanitarian parole, which the Biden administration had used to allow up to 30,000 people a month from those countries to enter the U.S. for two years. Separately, Donald Trump revoked security clearances for Kamala Harris and other political opponents.
