Vast majority of Scots support continued oil and gas extraction, poll finds

The survey found most people in Scotland want to see a mix of renewable and fossil fuel production.

A poll conducted by Opinion Matters for Big Partnership found that 84% of Scots support continued oil and gas extraction, with 42% wanting to grow renewable energy alongside it and 27% favoring an indefinite mix of oil, gas, and green energy. Only 7% agreed that Scotland should stop producing oil and gas as soon as possible. Allan Barr, CEO of Big Partnership, noted that public opinion on oil and gas is less polarized than portrayed, with political parties potentially misaligned with voter sentiment. The survey of 1,000 Scots was carried out between February 14 and 18.
