The construction of a section of the Autostrada Transilvania, known as the "cursed section," has resumed after being abandoned by Bechtel over 12 years ago. The Romanian company, Construcții Erbașu, has taken over the project, which includes a large 1.6 km viaduct over a reservoir. The section, between Suplacu de Barcău and Chiribiș, had reached about 50% completion under Bechtel but was halted in 2013. The project faced several delays, including failed tenders and legal disputes. The new contractor began work in January 2025 and aims to complete the project by July 2026, though challenges remain, such as redoing some of Bechtel's work.
