Meta's Threads is a text-based Twitter rival launched over a year ago. As of November 2024, it has over 275 million monthly active users. Users can post 500-character messages. It is accessible on the web and allows account deactivation or deletion. Initially unavailable in the EU due to privacy concerns, it launched there in December 2023 with a browsing-only option for non-account holders. It lacks features like long video, direct messages, or live audio rooms, and currently has no paid tiers or ads.
