Why are energy bills rising again and what can I do about it?

Ofgem has announced a 6.4% increase in the energy price cap, effective from April 1, adding £111 annually or about £9.25 monthly for the average household. This rise is attributed to volatility in international gas markets. To mitigate costs, households can switch to fixed-rate tariffs, use comparison sites for better deals, and contact suppliers for tailored payment plans. Additionally, government support such as the winter fuel payment for pension credit recipients is available. Ofgem has also extended debt allowance support to assist customers in managing their bills.
