William was at his ‘lowest’ after Kate’s cancer diagnosis – former royal aide

Jason Knauf was chief executive of William and Kate’s Royal Foundation, stepping down at the end of 2021.

Jason Knauf, a former aide to Prince William, revealed that William was deeply affected emotionally after Princess Kate's cancer diagnosis. Knauf described William as being at his "lowest" during this time, especially as both Kate and King Charles were undergoing cancer treatments. Knauf highlighted William's concern about preparing his children for public life, reflecting on his own challenging childhood with media attention. Additionally, Knauf was involved in past controversies, including a bullying complaint against Meghan Markle, which was denied by her legal team. He also discussed William's private handling of his strained relationship with brother Harry. Knauf's role included leading the Earthshot Prize initiative and he was awarded the Royal Victorian Order in 2023.
