Woman, 20, died with 'blood oozing out of eyes' after being told she didn't have killer disease

Sophie Ward was rushed to hospital fearing she had meningitis but was told she did not have it so went home, but died the next day of the disease with blood oozing from her eyes



Sophie Ward, 20, died of meningitis after being sent home from Barnet Hospital where she was initially told she did not have the disease. She was rushed to the hospital with symptoms including shivering and a high temperature, but after a delayed assessment, she was advised to return if a rash developed. Her condition deteriorated overnight, with her temperature soaring to 39.4°C and her vomiting violently. She was rushed back to the hospital, where blood oozed from her eyes, and she died 12 hours later.
