A woman and two men are on trial in the Central Criminal Court, accused of the rape and sexual assault of a young girl, beginning when she was three and a half years old. The woman, the girl's mother, pleaded not guilty to 13 counts of sexual assault and one count of rape. One man, the girl's maternal uncle, pleaded not guilty to five counts of rape and one of oral rape. The third man, a friend of the woman's then-partner, pleaded not guilty to one count of oral rape. The alleged incidents occurred between 2000 and 2014, primarily in the west of Ireland. The complainant, now in her mid-20s, is expected to testify about the alleged abuse.
