Woman 'stole' neighbour's cat Dora and 'took pet with her when she moved home', court hears

Dawn Jowett, a police detention officer, is on trial accused of stealing her neighbor Joanna Richards' cat, Dora. Jowett claims she took Dora, who she believed was neglected, when she moved in October 2023, after feeding her for 18 months. Richards denies giving Jowett permission and searched for Dora, eventually finding her at Jowett's new home. Richards sought Dora's return, but Jowett refused. Dora, now 15, remains with Jowett pending the criminal proceedings. Richards stated Dora was microchipped and well-cared for, despite Jowett's claims of neglect.
