A Russian captain of the container ship Solong, Vladimir Motin, has been detained in the UK, accused of manslaughter in connection with a collision with a tanker that led to the death of a crew member. Motin did not apply for bail and will remain in custody. The collision occurred in the North Sea between the Solong and the anchored tanker Stena Immaculate. One crew member died, and 36 were rescued.
