‘A slap in the face’: activists reel as Trump administration removes crucial missing Indigenous peoples report

The Trump administration removed the Not Invisible Act Commission's final report, a collaborative effort by the Justice and Interior Departments addressing the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Peoples (MMIP) crisis, from a federal website. This report, mandated by bipartisan legislation Trump himself signed, compiled recommendations based on field hearings and provided data for reducing the crisis. Activists, including the Coalition to Stop Violence Against Native Women, expressed shock, deeming the removal a "slap in the face." Advocates continue to fight against the MMIP and MMIW crises, with organizations like the National Indigenous Women’s Resource Center and CSVANW working to maintain access to the report's information and create their own databases.
