Attendance Allowance payments set to end for 169,000 people before end of this year

A new devolved payment will replace the DWP-delivered benefit for people living in Scotland.

Attendance Allowance payments for 169,000 people will end by the end of the year, replaced by the Pension Age Disability Payment in Scotland, administered by Social Security Scotland. Existing claimants will be automatically transferred in stages starting in 2025 and will receive a letter beforehand. The new payment has the same eligibility rules and weekly rates as Attendance Allowance (£72.65 or £108.55), with rates rising in April. Pension Age Disability Payment is currently available in several council areas and will roll out nationwide by April 22nd, with administration fully transferred from the DWP to Social Security Scotland. Claimants cannot receive both Attendance Allowance and Pension Age Disability Payment simultaneously.
