Blood moon to be visible over Calgary Thursday night into Friday morning

The lunar eclipse starts around 11:09 Thursday with totality visible — weather permitting — from 12:26 to 1:31 a.m. Friday

A total lunar eclipse, also known as a blood moon, will be visible in Calgary from Thursday night into Friday morning, starting around 11:09 PM Thursday, with totality from 12:26 to 1:31 AM Friday and peak redness at 12:58 AM. The red hue is caused by sunlight passing through Earth's atmosphere. This is the first blood moon visible from Calgary since 2022.
