Boulder, Colorado, to be new home for the Sundance film festival

The Sundance Film Festival, founded by Robert Redford in 1978, will move from Park City, Utah, to Boulder, Colorado, starting in 2027. The decision follows a competitive bidding process involving Salt Lake City and Cincinnati. The move to Boulder, which has signed a 10 year deal, is motivated by its "small-town charm," "vibrant arts scene," and a Colorado bill offering film festivals up to $34 million in tax credits. Some in Utah were critical of the festival promoting porn and “alternative lifestyles.”
