Canada Seeks Defense Ties and Deals With Europe as US Pulls Back

Canada is pursuing closer defence ties and deals with Europe, including potential defence deals and improved access to critical minerals, in response to the U.S.'s pullback and threats from President Trump. Canada is also reviewing its plans to purchase F-35 fighter jets from the U.S. and seeking closer defence industry cooperation with Italy and the European Union. New Prime Minister Mark Carney recently visited France and the United Kingdom for talks with allies.
