CBSA and RCMP unions squabble over who should patrol the border with U.S.

The unions are duel over whether CBSA officers should have a bigger role in bolstering the border.

Unions representing the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) are in disagreement over who should patrol the Canada-U.S. border. The Customs and Immigration Union (CIU), representing CBSA officers, is advocating for an expanded role for its members, while the National Police Federation, representing the RCMP, argues that the RCMP is best equipped for border patrol. The federal government has so far rejected the CIU's requests.
