Charles and Camilla to meet Pope during state visit, Buckingham Palace confirms

The tour from April 7 to 10 will include two state visits, to Rome and Ravenna in Italy, and to the Holy See in the Vatican.

King Charles and Queen Camilla will visit Rome and Ravenna, Italy, and the Vatican from April 7-10, meeting with Pope Francis, President Mattarella, and Prime Minister Meloni. Charles will be the first British monarch to visit the Papal Basilica of St Paul Outside the Walls and address the Italian parliament. The visit will celebrate the papal jubilee and the relationship between the Catholic Church and the Church of England, and will include a service in the Sistine Chapel focused on the theme of ‘care for creation’. In Ravenna, they will mark the 80th anniversary of the province’s liberation from Nazi occupation.
