Cheers Rachel! Average pint of pint surges past £5 or first time as pubs suffer ballooning staffing costs

Industry bosses have warned that a rise in the UK minimum wage and National Insurance contributions next month means they will be forced to put up prices.

Due to ballooning staffing costs and other rising expenses for pubs, the average price of a pint in the UK is expected to rise by 21p to £5.01, according to the British Beer and Pub Association. The sector faces increased costs from higher wages, national insurance, reduced business rates relief, and new packaging rules, with the net cost of autumn budget announcements being approximately £650 million. The BBPA urges the government to cap or reduce business costs to keep pubs open and pints affordable.
