Children of British couple held by Taliban denounce their ‘cruel and unjust’ detention amid health fears

Peter Reynolds, 79, and his wife Barbie, 75, have worked in Afghanistan for 18 years

British couple, Peter and Barbie Reynolds, detained by the Taliban in Afghanistan over six weeks ago for allegedly possessing fake Afghan passports, have been moved to a maximum security prison. Their children are denouncing the "cruel and unjust" detention, citing health concerns and appealing for their release and access to medical care. The couple has been running school training programs in Afghanistan for 18 years through their agency, Rebuild. The reason for their continued detention remains unclear, though it has been suggested it might be due to a course they ran for women.
