City of North Vancouver approves $4.3 million plan to fix atmospheric river damage

While damage wasn't as serious as in the adjacent District of North Vancouver or Coquitlam, it was enough to cause sewer damage, localized flooding and 'significant creek erosion.'

The City of North Vancouver approved a $4.3 million plan to repair damage from a destructive October 2024 atmospheric river, classified as a one-in-100-year event, which caused sewer damage, flooding, and creek erosion. The most costly repair will be to Thain Creek banks, and the city will use reserves while seeking provincial disaster assistance and climate resilience grants. The atmospheric river caused over $110 million in insured damage across B.C.
