Citywest firm received around €1.3m weekly in 2024 for accommodating IP applicants and Ukrainians

In 2024, Ireland spent €1.84 billion on accommodating International Protection (IP) applicants and Ukrainians, averaging €5 million daily. Cape Wrath UC (Citywest) received €68.27 million, averaging €1.3 million weekly, a 27% increase from 2023. Several other entities also received substantial payments in Q4 2024, including IGO Emergency Management Services (€12.46 million), Travelodge Hotels (€11 million), Mosney Holidays plc (€9.5 million), and the D Hotel in Drogheda (€7.7 million). The number of IP applicants increased by 25% between December 2023 and March 2024, reaching 33,006.
