Ed Miliband 'to block' bid to ban government from buying Chinese solar panels feared to have been made with slave labour

The government is poised to vote against a Lords amendment to the Great British Energy Bill when it returns to the Commons on Tuesday.

Ed Miliband is expected to block a bid to ban the UK government from buying Chinese solar panels due to concerns about slave labor. The government will vote against a Lords amendment to the Great British Energy Bill that would prevent taxpayer money being used to buy products from companies with "credible evidence" of modern slavery in their supply chains. Miliband conceded that some solar panels for a GB Energy project will come from China, which controls 80% of the global supply.
