The family of Charles Dooher, who is in critical condition after being violently attacked at his home in Co Donegal on January 20th, criticizes An Garda Síochána for not treating the incident as attempted murder. The family claims the attack was the result of Garda failures to police a family with a decade-long vendetta against them and that a criminal gang from Northern Ireland was involved. The PSNI initially deemed the case attempted murder, while Gardaí classified it as aggravated burglary and serious assault. The family is cautiously re-engaging with Gardaí after a meeting with senior officers. Gardaí stated they don't comment on interactions with families.
