Former Michigan college football coach charged with hacking accounts for athletes’ intimate photos

An indictment filed Thursday says that a former NFL and University of Michigan assistant football coach hacked into the computer accounts of thousands of college athletes to access intimate photos and videos

Former Michigan assistant football coach Matt Weiss was charged with 14 counts of unauthorized computer access and 10 counts of identity theft for hacking into over 2,000 college athletes' accounts between 2015 and 2023, primarily targeting female athletes for intimate photos and videos. He gained access through databases of over 100 colleges maintained by a third-party vendor. He was fired from Michigan in 2023 for non-cooperation with the school's investigation.
