Former retirement home manager used rent for booze, gambling: Lawsuit

A former manager of a Norwich retirement home accused of misappropriating nearly $200,000 used some of it for gambling, a lawsuit alleges



A former manager of Trillium Care Norwich retirement home, Julie Vitias, is being sued for $820,000 after allegedly misappropriating nearly $200,000 in rent money for personal use, including gambling and alcohol. The lawsuit alleges Vitias accepted unauthorized residents, deposited rent into her personal account, and issued fake invoices. OPP is investigating the alleged fraud, which impacted 26 people. Vitias intends to defend herself against the allegations.
