Witness not accused was the one driving boat at time of Lake Ontario crash, defence suggests

The collision caused the boat to flip over, trapping those on board. Eight people managed to escape but two were trapped under the vessel and drowned.

In the trial related to a fatal Lake Ontario boat crash in May 2022, the defense suggested that a witness, not the accused, was driving the boat at the time of the accident. The witness, Eddie Denkha, testified he wasn't driving, while the defense argued he was speeding to impress a woman. Denkha also testified that Filip Grkovski was driving, and that Grkovski had taken cocaine before the crash. The defense questioned Denkha's credibility, citing past convictions including a dangerous operation of a vessel. Denkha denied he was driving the vessel during the time of that conviction.
