Gardaí enlist Europol to assist in case of missing Icelandic man Jón Jónsson

Investigators intend to use EU law enforcement agency to help co-ordinate with Icelandic police and chase down new leads



Gardaí are enlisting Europol's assistance in the five-year-old disappearance case of Icelandic man Jón Jónsson in Dublin. Europol will help coordinate with Icelandic police and pursue new leads, including a possible murder. Gardaí will meet with Icelandic police at Europol headquarters. Jónsson's family met with Gardaí and expressed satisfaction with the increased cooperation. The investigation has generated numerous leads, but remains a missing person case, despite family suspicions of murder and anonymous tips about Jónsson's remains.
