Here's how the price of eggs compares in Canada versus elsewhere in the world

For many Canadians, eggs are staple items on their grocery list — but how do egg prices in Canada compare to those in other countries?We have conducted several grocery comparisons across different countries, looking at the cost of food in Canada versus places like Italy, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Australia. However, rather than comparing the prices of various grocery items, we're focusing specifically on this versatile source of protein.In 2024, we tracked the price of eggs in different countries. In Canada that year, a carton of one dozen large eggs from Great Value costed $3.97 CAD at Walmart, while free-range eggs costed $7.04 CAD.
