Donegal Gardaí are conducting a road safety campaign focused on intoxicated driving over the St. Patrick's Day weekend, with increased Garda presence and checkpoints nationwide. The campaign aims to reduce incidents of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, particularly the morning after, and also targets speeding, mobile phone use, and seatbelt violations. While national road deaths have decreased this year, Donegal experienced a high number of fatalities in 2024.
