Judges told to consider how migrants are represented in press when deciding cases

The guide, led by Lady Chief Justice Baroness Carr, states that 'negative perceptions of migrants, refugees and people seeking asylum are fuelled by parts of the press and some political debate'.



Judges in the UK are being advised to consider media representation of migrants when deciding cases. Guidelines suggest being understanding towards religious practices and avoiding objections to face coverings. Ethnic minorities and transgender individuals should be treated differently, according to official recommendations.
