Denis Van Weynbergh, a Belgian skipper, completed the Vendée Globe a day after the official closing, finishing his first solo, non-stop, unassisted circumnavigation in 117 days. He arrived to a welcoming crowd but will not be officially ranked or receive prize money due to being outside the time limit. Despite experiencing technical difficulties, including a faulty wind vane and mainsail, Van Weynbergh completed the race.
