In western Syria, government forces are clashing with loyalists of former President Bashar al-Assad, resulting in significant violence including the reported execution of 162 Alawite civilians. Clashes in the Latakia and Tartus regions, particularly in Jableh, have led to at least 231 deaths. The new government has imposed a curfew and launched security operations in the region.
