Living in darkness: Lagos community where Nigerians cross border to charge phones, fetch water

Residents of Kweme, a Nigerian community on the Benin border, have lived without electricity since 2017, forcing them to cross the border to Benin Republic to charge phones and fetch water. The lack of power has crippled local businesses, particularly those reliant on refrigeration, and forced residents to rely on well water, which they must boil or purify with alum.
