Luxembourg’s Prince Frederik, 22, dies due to rare genetic disease

Prince Frederik was first diagnosed with the rare genetic conditon when he was 14



Prince Frederik of Luxembourg, 22, died from POLG Mitochondrial disease, a rare genetic disorder diagnosed at age 14. He founded the POLG Foundation to help find treatments for the disease, which causes multiple organ dysfunction. He is survived by his parents, Prince Robert of Luxembourg and Princess Julie of Nassau, and his siblings, Prince Alexander and Princess Charlotte.
