Major incident declared after Surrey sinkhole grows forcing evacuations and sucks in garden

A major incident has been declared in Surrey after two sinkholes opened up on Godstone High Street. The first sinkhole, which appeared on Monday night, has grown, leading to the evacuation of around 30 properties. A second sinkhole has also formed on the opposite side of the street, consuming a driveway. Residents are being supported by Tandridge District Council with accommodation advice. Operations are managed by the Local Resilience Forum, supported by Surrey County Council.
