Samir Abdelgadir was convicted of kidnapping a 14-year-old boy to settle his half-brother's drug debt of 90 kilos of cocaine. Abdelgadir is the only one of the five originally charged to be convicted in the case. Others involved either had charges stayed, pleaded guilty to arson of the getaway vehicle, or had charges dropped; one was later murdered. The victim's half-brother, Olalekan Osikoya, admitted to stealing the cocaine from drug dealers, including Scott McManus, and Abdelgadir was identified through surveillance and voice identification.
