The Toronto Maple Leafs acquired centre Scott Laughton from the Philadelphia Flyers in a trade deadline deal on Friday. The Leafs sent prospect Nikita Grebenkin, a conditional 2027 first-round draft pick (top-10 protected), and received a fourth-round and sixth-round pick in return. The Flyers retained 50% of Laughton’s $3 million contract, which runs through the 2025-26 season. Laughton, an Oakville native, was drafted 20th overall by the Flyers in 2012 and has 265 career points (106 goals, 159 assists) in 661 games. In 60 games this season, he has 11 goals and 16 assists. Laughton expressed excitement about joining the Leafs and playing in the playoffs, calling it "pretty surreal." The trade came after rumours surfaced, which Laughton had previously addressed on social media.
